Removal of the concessional status – Block 1 Section 15 Griffith
The Inner South Canberra Community Council has made a submission objecting to the deconcessionalisation of the concessional lease of the Canberra Services Club in Griffith (adjacent to Manuka Oval) due to its failure to meet the Public Interest Test in section 261 of the Planning and Development Act.

Call for a Design Review Panel
The ISCCC calls on the ACT Government to introduce as a matter of priority legislation to create an effective Design Review Panel to ensure better quality building design outcomes in Canberra.
Playgrounds in Inner South Canberra
The ACT Government has announced that it will invest funding to improve 8 playgrounds in the Inner South, plus a review of playgrounds in Narrabundah. Details are provided in the attached letter from the Minister for City Services, Chris Steel MLA
ISCCC Submission – Waste to Energy
The ISCCC urges the ACT Government to provide a coherent policy framework for responding to waste-to energy proposals in Canberra. This should exclude thermal waste to energy processes and import of waste from interstate. It should focus instead on alternatives such as finding markets for large waste streams and ACT Government initiatives on recycling such as green bins.
Report of the ISCCC AGM on 13 Nov 2018
Presentations by ACT Government officials on a waste to energy policy (attached), and an update on the new bus network, attracted a range of questions from the audience.. There was support for source separation of waste streams such as Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO), and for composting and anaerobic digestion approaches.. ISCCC expresses concern to ACT Legislative Assembly Inquiry about building quality
The ISCCC has declared that while some limited progress has been made recently to address building quality, for example the increased verification of skills and qualifications of builders, there remains much to be done. Any suggestion that the task has been substantially addressed is unrealistically optimistic or just political “spin”.
