Italo-Australian Club proposed redevelopment close for comments 5 October 2016

The Forrest Residents Group has written to the ACT Government on 5 September 2016, to object to the proposed redevelopment of the site of the former Italo-Australian Club at 78 Franklin Street (9/19 Forrest).

On 21 September 2016, the Forrest Residents Group indicated that the deadline for public comment on this proposed development has been extended until 5 October 2016.

The development application states:

PROPOSAL FOR 7 STOREY MIXED USE DEVELOPMENT – LEASE VARIATION – construction of a hotel providing 227 rooms, a 220m2 restaurant, 142m2 bar and lounge, a 726m2 function room, and four (4) multi-purpose office and meeting rooms; and three (3) basement levels, providing 297 car parking spaces. The upper basement level will contain a pool, gym, health spa/treatment rooms, hairdresser, storage rooms, plant rooms, waste room, and a loading dock. Lease variation to permit commercial accommodation use and other commercial applications.
