The ISCCC provided a submission to the ACT Government on 29 August 2013 in response to the call for comments on the ACT Draft Water Strategy. In its submission ISCCC recognizes that water management is a complex and important matter and endorses the concept of integrating the management of all aspects of water resources. The ISCCC considers that most of the debatable issues will be in the next stage when detailed action plans are developed.
Overall, the ISCCC considers the Draft Strategy to be appropriate but could be improved through a range of matters including quantification of water supply parameters such as the per capita consumption goal, a risk management assessment and mitigation plan, more on groundwater and wetlands and refining terminology.
